DHA Script FAQ

Q:  Where does the fish oil in DHA Script come from?
A:  It comes from anchovies, sardines, and mackerel, which are small cold-water fish traditionally used in most brands of quality fish oil supplements.

Q:  What is the best way to store DHA Script?
A:  DHA Script does not require refrigeration; however, its freshness will be preserved longer if you do keep it in the refrigerator (but not in the freezer compartment).

Q:  When should I take DHA Script?
A:  It’s best to take DHA Script with a meal, either while eating a meal or just after your meal.

Q:  What is the suggested use?
A:  We recommend taking one softgel daily.

A:  One softgel of DHA Script contains 750 mg of fish oil, which delivers 640 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, which provides 500mg of DHA, 70mg of EPA, 70 mg of several other omega-3’s, as well as 2,500 IU’s of vitamin D3.

Q:  I see “natural mixed tocopherols” which is vitamin E – what is that derived from?
A:  Vitamin E is a natural preservative because of its strong antioxidant activity.*  While most vitamin E comes from soy, which often comes from genetically modified soy beans, our vitamin E comes from non-GMO sunflower oil.

A:  Yes, you can, or you can take one softgel separately during the day – it really doesn’t matter.

Q:  Is DHA Script a replacement for my prescription fish oil product?

A:  Script Essentials’ DHA Script is an omega-3 fatty acid supplement that is high in DHA, low in EPA,* and does not require a prescription.  DHA Script is not an “ethyl ester” fatty acid like prescription drug versions.

HashiScript FAQ

Q:  Can I take HashiScript if I have an autoimmune condition?

A:  HashiScript is a blend of antioxidants and digestive enzymes that support immune function and promote the metabolism of food.*  This in turn supports healthy antibody levels.*  Since we don’t know what’s right for every individual, we always advise that if you have a chronic health condition, then you should ask your health-care practitioner about taking any new supplement.

A:  Will I have to take HashiScript forever or can I stop taking it when I feel better?

Q:  You can stop anytime you like.  If you decide you felt better when you were taking it, then start back up again.  There is no need to “wean” yourself off it either, so you can start or stop taking it suddenly if you choose to.  HashiScript should be thought of as an enzyme blend with special antioxidants* – it is not a drug nor does it contain any type of thyroid hormone.

Q:  What is the main difference between HashiScript and Thyroid Script?

A:  HashiScript is better to take if your immune system is involved.  Thyroid Script is better to take if your adrenal glands are involved.  Both formulas are intended to help support the thyroid gland.*  Both products are non-glandular formulas.  So both products can help if you have low thyroid function.*

Q:  What do the different ingredients do in HashiScript and Thyroid Script?

A:  The ingredients are totally different between these formulas.  Thyroid Script contain a very small amount of iodine, whereas HashiScript is iodine-free.  Thyroid Script supports adrenal health because it contains ashwagandha, whereas HashiScript does not.*  On the other hand, HashiScript contains proteolytic enzymes that help if you have increased intestinal permeability, which is often seen in individuals who have autoimmune dysfunction.*  HashiScript supports a healthy immune system, whereas Thyroid Script supports healthy adrenal glands and thyroid function but does not address immunity.*

Q:  Can I take both HashiScript and Thyroid Script?

A:  Yes, if you would like to.  Thyroid Script supports healthy levels of thyroid hormone, as well as adrenal gland function; for example, in case you’re experiencing stress.*  HashiScript is an iodine-free blend of digestive enzymes and antioxidants that support healthy levels of peroxide.*  The reason for taking HashiScript would be to help support immune system function and maintain healthy levels of antibodies.*

Q:  I read that glutathione gets destroyed in stomach acid.  Does that happen to the glutathione in HashiScript?

A:  No.  There are two forms of glutathione in HashiScript, one is acetylated and one is “reduced.”  We include both forms of these potent antioxidants in a unique acid-resistant capsule to ensure the most effective delivery in the body.

Q:  What is the suggested use for HashiScript?

A:  The suggested use is to take two capsules at the same time.  You can take HashiScript at any time during the day; however, most individuals usually take it in the morning.  But an acceptable alternative would be to take one capsule two times daily if you prefer.

Q:  Should I take HashiScript on an empty stomach or with food?

A:  You can take HashiScript without regard to meals; however, HashiScript may work better when you take it on an empty stomach because of the proteolytic enzymes.  But it’s really up to you because there is no wrong time or right time.  HashiScript contains a blend of digestive enzymes, and some work well with food and some on an empty stomach.  Take at your convenience.

Q:  I am usually constipated, but now I’m not.  Could HashiScript be having an affect on my bowels – is that possible?

A:  Yes, the HashiScript formula contains several digestive enzymes that help improve the metabolism of food as it moves through your GI tract.*  Some individuals have reported a harmless discoloration to the stool (usually greenish) and improved regularity.*  If for some reason you experience occasional diarrhea (that has not been reported to us but it is possible), just reduce the amount you’re taking, such as taking one capsule daily instead of two.

Q:  Can I take HashiScript if I no longer have a thyroid gland?

A:  Yes, because the HashiScript formula is not intended to produce thyroid hormone.*  HashiScript is intended to support immune function, and immune cells reside primarily in your gut.* HashiScript is a full-body antioxidant supplement and has “anti-rusting” properties (catalase and glutathione) that support the breakdown of free radicals, such as peroxide.*  HashiScript will support immune system function whether or not you have a thyroid gland.*

Q:  I am already taking your Thyroid Script.  Can I also take HashiScript or should I switch to HashiScript?

A:  Yes, you can take both products at the same time because HashiScript is primarily a digestive enzyme blend that supports immunity and autoimmunity,* and there are no duplicate ingredients except the selenium.  But even if you take two capsules of Thyroid Script and two capsules of HashiScript daily, the total daily amount of selenium you would get is only 205 mcg, which is not an unsafe amount.  The selenium dosage used in clinical trials is more than than that so you would still be within a very safe margin.  But just in case, the symptoms to look for from excessive selenium would be agitation, restlessness, faster heart rate, and diarrhea, which are symptoms consistent with selenium causing excessive thyroid hormone production.  But again, some individuals take up to 400 mcg of selenium daily, as comparison.  Dosing minerals can be difficult, because it’s very individualized.  You could always take less of each formula if need be.

Q:  Is it okay to take HashiScript if I take a prescription thyroid medication?

A:  Yes. HashiScript is essentially an antioxidant formula with several digestive enzymes, so there is nothing in HashiScript that should interfere with a prescription medication.* However, we always advise that you consult with your health-care practitioner before you start taking a nutritional supplement. Keep in mind that with taking HashiScript – as your general health begins to improve – your thyroid function may begin to normalize or regulate itself better and then your prescription medication may feel like it’s too much.  That is why you must remain supervised by your physician so that a prescription dosage can be reduced if necessary.

Q:  Is it okay to take HashiScript if I am also taking a statin medication to reduce my cholesterol?

A:  Yes, statins can interfere with selenium absorption (and also coenzyme Q10) so HashiScript could be useful if you are taking a statin, because HashiScript contains selenium.*  Also, if you have lipid peroxidation, then the catalase in HashiScript could be helpful.*  Of course, we advise that you ask your health-care practitioner about taking any nutritional supplement before you begin taking it.

Q:  I have food sensitivities.  Will taking HashiScript help?

A:  Yes, it should, because HashiScript contains several proteolytic and digestive enzymes that are known to help support digestive health,* especially if you are consuming gluten, casein, or other food antigens in your diet.

Q:  Is there any magnesium stearate or any other stearate in HashiScript?

A:  No, there is no magnesium stearate or any other stearate in any of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials products.

Q:  Is HashiScript gluten-free?

A:  Yes.  All Script Essential products are gluten-free.  Script Essentials strives to have a virtually hypoallergenic product line, but we cannot know every possible allergy every individual might have.  Our products are made with the fewest possible “Other Ingredients” in their formulas, and they contain absolutely no artificial preservatives, fillers, or colors.

Q:  Is HashiScript effective if you no longer have a thyroid gland?

A:  Yes, it can still be extremely helpful for the immune system, and other aspects of gut health because it contains several potent antioxidants, and digestive enzymes.

Q:  I am unable to swallow pills. Can I open the HashiScript capsule and mix it with applesauce and ingest it this way?

A:  Yes you may, however be aware that you will not get the full effects due to reduced absorption (due to the contents coming in contact with your stomach acid). Emptying contents into food may reduce potency of the blend by approximately 30%.

Q:  Can I take HashiScript if I take thyroid medicine?

A:  We always suggest you consult your physician(s) about combining dietary supplements with medication. The contents of this supplement may be taken with many different types of medication simply because it is primarily a digestive enzyme blend, and it also contains antioxidants, but again, this is a personal decision for each of you.

Q:  I have high selenium levels on my blood test. Is HashiScript safe to take?

A:  No, it contains selenium so do not take it if your blood selenium levels are elevated.

Q:  HashiScript is it vegan?

A:  Yes.

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Greens with your Thyroid Script thyroid support formula?

A:  Yes.  I have custom-formulated Thyroid Greens to enhance the positive effects of Thyroid Script.  You can even take both products at the same time if you prefer, although many individuals enjoy the feeling of energy when they take Thyroid Greens in the mid-afternoon (instead of a cup of coffee).*  You can do as you prefer, because it’s safe in any case.

A:  Yes.  And you should keep in mind that taking Thyroid Greens will promote enhanced thyroid hormone production and thus enhance the effect of these medications,* although Thyroid Greens is not an adjunct to these medications.  Monitor for signs of high thyroid hormone levels if you do combine taking Thyroid Greens with a prescription thyroid medication, because it could be a cue to consult with your health-care practitioner about revising your protocol.  Signs of thyroid hormone levels that are too high include insomnia, agitation, palpitations, feeling jittery or anxious, and diarrhea.

Q:  Is Thyroid Greens organic?

A:  Yes, Thyroid Greens is manufactured in the United States, in the State of California.  Thyroid Greens is certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers – CCOF – a U.S. Department of Agriculture accredited organic certifying agency and trade association.  The CCOF is a non-profit organization that advances organic agriculture for a healthier world through organic certification and advocacy.

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Greens even if I don’t have a thyroid problem?

A:  Yes, the purpose of Thyroid Greens is to give you all of the benefits of traditional green super mixes without risking harm to your iodine levels or your thyroid gland.

Q:  Because I have food sensitivities, can you assure me that Thyroid Greens is free of dairy, soy, and gluten?

A:  Yes.  Thyroid Greens is pharmacist formulated, and is a custom green super-mix guaranteed to be free of soy, dairy, and wheat, so it is gluten free.  Thyroid Greens is also made without the use of any GMO ingredients, it is made in the United States, there are NO artificial colors, ingredients, sweeteners, or additives in it, and it is vegan.

Q:  Can a child take Thyroid Greens on a daily basis?

A:  Yes.  Because Thyroid Greens contains a blend of nutritious fruits and vegetables, it provides protein.  Although we have testimonials that children enjoy the taste of Thyroid Greens, every child is different, but you can certainly stir Thyroid Greens into juice instead of water if you would like to.  You can also use 1 or 2 teaspoonfuls instead of an entire scoop (which equals one tablespoon).

Q:  Can I put Thyroid Greens in a smoothie or cook with it (heat it)?

A:  Yes, either is fine, but just not at too high a temperature.  Some moms will put a teaspoon into a cookie recipe to turn the cookies green for the kiddos.  Some of you have sent recipes for other baked items, such as carrot muffins or bread with my greens mixed in, all of which is fine.

Q:  Should I be completely avoiding goitrogenic foods like broccoli, spinach, or cauliflower?

A:  No, you can still enjoy them, but I would do so as cooked vegetables.  When I refer to the goitgrogens in other proprietary green mixes, I am referring to them as raw powders.  It’s the raw form of goitrogens that have the most iodine-suppressive effect.

Q:  If I have a goiter can I take Thyroid Greens?

A:  If your health-care practitioner has told you that your goiter is due to an iodine deficiency, and recommended that you take iodine or something to improve iodine absorption, then it would be a good idea to try a super green mix like Thyroid Greens.  But if your health-care practitioner has asked you to avoid iodine for some reason, then you should not take Thyroid Greens.

Q:  What flavor is Thyroid Greens?

A:  Thyroid Greens is a non-GMO, organic blend of mixed berries, plus it includes natural vanilla and evaporated cane juice sugar.  It does not contain stevia or sugar alcohols like xylitol.  And there are no artificial sweeteners in Thyroid Greens either.

Q:  Is there any magnesium stearate or any other stearate in Thyroid Greens?

A:  No, there is no magnesium stearate or any other stearate in any of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials products.

Q:  Is Thyroid Greens gluten free, because I see that one of the ingredients in it is wheat grass?

A:  Yes, Thyroid Greens is definitely gluten free.  Although its name is confusing, wheat grass does not have any gluten in it.

Q:  Is Thyroid Greens similar to my multi-vitamin/mineral supplement?

A:  Yes, in some ways it is.  A green super mix like Thyroid Greens contains multiple micronutrients in it, and taking it is a great way to supplement your diet so your body receives all of the nutrients that it needs.*

Q:  There are so many ingredients listed on the label – what does it all mean?

A:  The ingredients contained in Thyroid Greens are basically just fruits and vegetables, as well as some unique sea vegetables, like sea lettuce, for example.  These ingredients provide a spectrum of antioxidants and potent phytonutrients to provide health and wellbeing right down to the cellular level.*  Every ingredient in Thyroid Greens is there for the hand-picked functions I have chosen.  The ingredients in Thyroid Greens are there to support your optimal health.*

Q:  Why isn’t Thyroid Greens sweetened with stevia?

A:  Stevia is not in my current formula because many consumers think it has a bitter aftertaste, as if it tastes “artificial.”  At Script Essentials, we use 100-percent organic evaporated cane juice sugar, and the amount utilized in one serving of Thyroid Greens is equivalent to the amount of sugar found in one-third of an apple.

Q:  I’m not used to drinking green super mixes, and Thyroid Greens is a little thick and has an “interesting” flavor.  What suggestions do you have to help me get used to it?

A:  Getting used to a greens super mix can take a few days, but by then you’ll be a veteran!  You might try mixing a small amount – for example, one teaspoonful into a regular-size water bottle and sip it during the day.  Then each day, add a little bit more until you reach your preferred texture and taste.  A full scoop – its suggested use – is equal to three teaspoons.

Here are some suggestions for Thyroid Greens newbies:

  1. Use CRUSHED or CUBED ICE.  It’s surprising how using ice or ice water makes it taste differently.  Add the amount of ice you prefer and drink Thyroid Greens cold.

  2. Mix it really well by putting it into a shaker bottle.  I use a miniature metal whisk at home in my shaker bottle.  Or use a fork to stir it.  Every greens super mix has to be stirred well.

  3. If Thyroid Greens is too sweet for you, or too thick, then you can mix one scoop (one tablespoon) into your water bottle with some ice, which makes it thinner and less sweet.

  4. If Thyroid Greens is too sweet, then mix 1/2 to 1 scoop of it into water, but also add a shot of grapefruit juice or pomegranate juice.  This will ‘cut’ the sweetness and make it more tart, while adding even more health benefits.

  5.  If Thyroid Greens isn’t sweet enough, then mix one scoop (a full serving size) into your water bottle, but only fill the bottle half full with water, and fill the other half with apple juice, or grape juice, or coconut juice, which will make it sweeter.

  6. You can mix Thyroid Greens with soda or the carbonated beverage of your choice.

  7.  You can mix Thyroid Greens into a smoothie.  We even have a recipe book with smoothie ideas like Mango Bango, Honey Almond, and others.  A smoothie is a great way to introduce healthy greens to your kiddos!  To get your own copy of our 17 Delicious Smoothies Using Thyroid Greens, email customerservice@suzycohen.com and just ask.

Q:  Can I drink alcohol with Thyroid Greens?

A:  Yes, there’s no adverse interaction between an alcoholic beverage and Thyroid Greens.  In fact, I’ve been asked if it’s okay to put a scoop of Thyroid Greens into a frozen Margherita or a Pina Colada, and my answer is YES!

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Greens if I’m taking other nutritional supplements or prescription or over-the-counter medications?

A:  When you think of a greens super mix like Thyroid Greens, think of it as you would a big salad or fruit bowl – except in powdered form.  When you think of it that way, you realize that it’s safe to take it with pretty much anything.  The only exception is to not take Thyroid Greens if you’re on an anticoagulant medication, like Coumadin (warfarin), Plavix, and others, because Thyroid Greens contains approximately 270 micrograms of vitamin K per serving, and if you’re taking an anticoagulant drug, then vitamin K is contraindicated.  But for sure, to be certain what is right and safe for you, always consult with your health-care practitioner.  Generally speaking, greens super mixes are used globally and considered safe.

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Greens if I am pregnant?

A:  There are numerous ingredients in Thyroid Greens that are well known to support a healthy pregnancy;* however, we always advise that you check with your OB/GYN to make sure.  Our Thyroid Greens contains edible seaweeds like dulse and sea lettuce, which are rich in natural iron, and which are supportive for mother and baby.*  The beetroot found in Thyroid Greens is another superfood often recommended to pregnant moms.*  However, to be safe, we always advise that you make sure with your own physician what’s right for you.

Q:  Are the fruit flavors natural?

A:  Yes, the mixed berry flavor is an organic, non-GMO blend of naturally derived blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry.  The sweetness that you taste in Thyroid Greens comes in part from this mixed berry flavor, as well as from the beetroot, pineapple extract, acai berries, and a tiny amount of organic evaporated cane juice sugar.  We strive to have the best-tasting greens super mix on the market.

Q:  About how many servings of fruits and veggies are in one serving of Thyroid Greens?

A:  Approximately 5-6.

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Greens if I have Hashimoto’s or Graves’ disease?

A:  We always advise that if you have a chronic illness or condition that you consult with your health-care practitioner before you begin taking a nutritional supplement, but yes, we have individuals who have these autoimmune disorders of the thyroid who take Thyroid Greens.  Thyroid Greens is not intended to increase or decrease thyroid hormone levels, it is simply intended to support the systems in your body that improve detoxification and energy production.*  If your health-care practitioner okays taking Thyroid Greens, and you do have a  chronic health disorder of any sort, including thyroid disease, then I advise that you start slowly and gauge your response.  For example, start with a teaspoonful in water and take that for a few days, and then increase from there to your desired or tolerated amount.  If you have a chronic health disorder, then this is a good rule of thumb to follow for any supplement you take.

Q:  Why do you say that Thyroid Greens is goitrogen free?

A:  Thyroid Greens was designed with your thyroid in mind, which is why I wanted it to be goitrogen free.  This means it does not contain any grasses, fruits, or vegetables that can impair thyroid hormone production, and likewise, it does not contain any substances that can increase thyroid hormone production either.*  It has a minute amount of iodine (about 6.4 mcg) that is naturally occurring from the seaweeds in it.

Q:  Does Thyroid Greens need to be refrigerated?

A:  No, Thyroid Greens is formulated to be stable at room temperature for years, but it’s so good it will be gone in a month or two!  You can certainly refrigerate it if you prefer to do so, but there’s no need to.

Q:  Where is the chlorella in Thyroid Greens sourced from?

A:  I have heard that many makers of greens super mixes get their chlorella from Japan, but I worry about radioactivity (when it comes from a water source).  The chlorella used in Thyroid Greens is sourced from China (not Japan), and our chlorella has “GRAS" status according to the regulations set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Q:  Since Thyroid Greens has a probiotic in it, do I need to continue taking my regular probiotic supplement?

A:  Yes.  The Bacillus Coagulans in Thyroid Greens is just one strain, so if you are taking another probiotic during the day, then please continue taking it.

Q:  I see pineapple powder on the product label, which seems such an odd choice for a fruit. Why?

A:  Because the pineapple powder provides "bromeliad," which is a terrific digestive enzyme that is proteolytic, so it helps break down proteins.*  Bromelain has been well studied for its numerous positive effects on respiratory health, joint health, sinus health, and much more.*

Q:  When should I take Thyroid Greens?

A:  Anytime you want, but because it can give you a nice feeling of clarity or alertness, for this reason I suggest taking it in the morning, or at lunch, or early afternoon.  But I don’t advise taking it at night, unless you work a nightshift.

Joint Script FAQ

Q:  When is the best time to take Joint Script?

A:  Most individuals will respond to two capsules taken once daily with dinner.  Please note, however, that the frankincense (boswellia) in it can cause relaxation in some individuals, and if that’s the case with you then you can take Joint Script at bedtime.  Experiment and see what the best time to take it is for you, because when you take it won’t have an impact on its effectiveness.

Q:  Can I split the 2-capsule suggested use?  Can I take more than the suggested use?

A:  Yes, you can certainly try just one capsule twice daily.  Most individuals take two capsules (the recommended use) at the same time, with a meal, such as lunch or dinner.  The suggested use is 2 capsules taken once daily, which provides an efficacious amount of its ingredients to promote joint health,* but if after one month, you would like to increase your daily serving size to three capsules per day, then that would be okay.  Joint Script is safe and we understand that each individual is unique.

Q:  Can I take JointScript if I am also taking glucosamine, or chondroitin, or both?

A:  Yes, you can. There is no glucosamine or chondroitin in Joint Script.

Q:  Can I take JointScript if I am also taking Celebrex, Advil, Tylenol or analgesics such as Vicodin or Percocet?

A:  Yes, you can.  As time goes by, if you start feeling better, then you can ask your health-care practitioner if reducing your dosage of these medications is indicated.  Joint Script does not “mask” the pain like prescription drugs do, Joint Script works toward promoting the health of the cushioning substances between your joints.*

Q:  Are there any “animal derived” ingredients in Joint Script?

A:  Yes, Joint Script contains a purified extract from chicken cartilage.  Collagen extracts have a lot of documentation when it comes to supporting joint health and relieving sore and tender joints.*

Q:  Has Joint Script been tested on animals?

A:  No.  None of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials formuals are tested on animals.

Q:  What if I forget to take Joint Script for a day or more?

A:  Nothing will happen, just start taking it again as soon as you remember.

Q:  What if I’m allergic to Sulfa products, can I take Joint Script?

A:  Joint Script does contain MSM – methylsulfonylmethane – which is sulfur-based, but MSM and Sulfonamide (a synthetic antibacterial agent are two totally different compounds.  You can take Joint Script even if you have a sulfa allergy.  Sulfa is the abbreviation that pertains to sulfonamide medications that are obtained at a pharmacy, (for example Bactrim, or Septra, or some diabetic drugs).  Sulfur is natural to your body; whereas sulfa is a synthetic compound.  The two are not related, other than a similarity in spelling.

Q:  Can I take Joint Script if I have been prescribed a blood-thinning medication, such as Coumadin?

A:  It should be just okay, but please be 100% certain by asking your own doctor due to the ginger in Joint Script. Ginger has some mild blood-thinning actions on the body.  This property of ginger is actually considered a good thing, because it contributes to circulatory health* however, if you are combining Joint Script with a blood-thinning medication, such as Plavix, Coumadin, or Warfarin, and others... then we insist you consult with your health-care practitioner before taking Joint Script.

A:  Two factors – that are different for each individual – will always have an impact on GlucoScript’s effectiveness.  The first factor is your usual starting blood sugar level, and the second factor is your weight when you start taking GlucoScript.  That’s why there is no “pat answer” to this question.  Taking GlucoScript is not just about maintaining a normal blood sugar level.*

GlucoScript’s effectiveness is also determined by how much better you feel at the end of two months of taking it.*  Because taking GlucoScript is also about what the ingredients in it are doing to support your vision, to support your nerve health, and to help you better manage your appetite.*  GlucoScript is intended to support a number of organs and tissues in your body and reduce the risk of a number of adverse health conditions.*

The result of you taking GlucoScript may be helping you to maintain normal blood pressure, or promoting normal cholesterol metabolism, or improving capillary function that will support the overall health of your eyes, kidneys, and heart.*  Taking GlucoScript is not just about blood sugar, it’s about the overall positive impact that taking GlucoScript will have on your overall health, and it’s about taking the time to recognize those benefits when they happen.*

Q:  Can I take GlucoScript with food?

A:  Yes, it’s actually preferred because doing so will minimize any kind of stomach upset that might occur with taking a new nutritional supplement.  But if that is inconvenient, then you can certainly take it without regard to eating a meal.

Q:  If I am taking a medication for diabetes and/or insulin, is GlucoScript something that I could also take?

A:  GlucoScript is intended to support your body’s ability to metabolize blood sugar.*  Using GlucoScript at the same time as insulin or a medication for diabetes will enhance your body’s ability to manage its blood glucose level, in fact, it might do it too much.  Therefore, we advise that you strictly monitor your blood sugar levels and consult with your health-care practitioner so you can know that taking GlucoScript at the same time is right for you.  The key to remember, which your health-care practitioner will know when you tell him or her, is that your medication dosage might need to be adjusted (reduced) as you begin responding to GlucoScript, which could take days to weeks.

Q:  Can I take GlucoScript at the same time as my diabetes medication?

A:  My answer is going to assume that your health-care practitioner will have approved GlucoScript for you to take since you are also taking a prescription medication.  If that is the case, then it is okay to take GlucoScript at the same time or at a different time during the day.  It really doesn’t matter because GlucoScript works throughout the day.

Q:  Its suggested use says to take two capsules of GlucoScript daily, but do I start that way or work up to that?

A:  Most individuals start with taking two capsules of GlucoScript at the same time, although if you don’t want to take both capsules at once, then you could take one capsule in the morning and one capsule at lunch or at 5:00 p.m., for example.  There is no hard and fast rule.  Some individuals who are also taking a prescription medication will do better starting with one capsule daily for a week or two before increasing to two capsules.  The reason for this is to allow their body to get used to GlucoScript and to give you time to consult with your health-care practitioner about it.

Q:  Are there any glandular-derived ingredients in GlucoScript?

A:  No, nones.

Q:  Are there any genetically modified ingredients in GlucoScript?

A:  No.  None of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials products contain genetically modified ingredients.

Q:  Is there any magnesium stearate or any other stearate in GlucoScript?

A:  No, there is no magnesium stearate or any other stearate in any of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials products.

Q:  Can I take GlucoScript at night?

A:  Yes, there is no problem taking GlucoScript at night if you would like to take it that way.  Individuals respond differently, so if you find that it causes a calming and restful effect, then taking it night is best.  On the other hand, if you find that it creates alertness and energy, then taking it during the day would be ideal.  Preferably, once you find your optimal time, you want to take it at the same time each day.

Thyroid Script™ FAQ

Q:  What is the main reason someone should take Thyroid Script?

A:  Thyroid Script is a one-of-a-kind nutritional supplement that supports healthy thyroid function and the natural absorption and activation of thyroid hormone.*  Thyroid Script also supports a healthy metabolism, which can assist weight management efforts, while also promoting energy production and brain function.*

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Script if I am also taking a prescription thyroid medication?

A:  It’s possible that you may be able to take both; however, taking Thyroid Script in addition to a prescription thyroid medication must be discussed with your health-care practitioner.  Although Thyroid Script does not provide your body with thyroid hormone, it does contain nutrients that promote the formation of inactive thyroid hormone (T4), while also protecting your thyroid gland and liver so you can more efficiently make, activate, and use thyroid hormone.*

This makes it easier for your body to produce and utilize active thyroid hormone (T3).*  This in turn supports weight management, body temperature, cognitive health, energy production, and lipid health, common situations among individuals struggling to maintain healthy thyroid function.*

Q:  Did Thyroid Script used to be called ThyroScript?

A:  Yes.  We changed the name because we think the name Thyroid Script better conveys that the supplement is intended for thyroid function.*

Q:  Does Thyroid Script provide thyroid hormone?

A:  No, Thyroid Script is not a medication and therefore it doesn’t supply your body with thyroid hormone.  It contains natural amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that help your body to produce its own thyroid hormone, T4 (thyroxine), an inactive thyroid hormone that your body must then convert to active T3 (triiodothyronine).*

Q:  Can I take Thyroid Script at night?

A:  It’s up to you. Because Thyroid Script contains ingredients that can give you a sense of energy or well-being,* most individuals don’t take it at night.  For some individuals, however, the ashwagandha in it can make a person drowsy, so if you notice that it makes you drowsy, then yes, take it at night or bedtime.  Ashwagandha can also help provide a more restful, deeper sleep.*  But again, most individuals who take it feel a heightened sense of alertness,* so you will just have to experiment and see how you feel on it.

Q:  Should I start with taking two capsules of Thyroid Script at the same time?

A:  Most individuals do start with two capsules; however, you don’t have to if you consider yourself the “sensitive” sort and you already know that you need to take lower amounts of other supplements.  You can certainly start with one capsule in the morning and see how you feel the first few days.  You can even empty out half of one capsule for an even lower serving size, if you’re extremely sensitive, and then you can increase thereafter.  The optimal serving size for most individuals is two capsules daily, either at the same time or separated by a few hours, whichever you prefer.  Sometimes we hear that one capsule is enough for someone.  The reason for the variance is because every individual is unique in how they metabolize and because every individual has their own “baseline” level of thyroid hormone in their body.

Q:  Does Thyroid Script contain wheat or gluten?

A:  No, it does not.  In fact, Thyroid Script has an enzyme in it that helps you to digest gluten in case you are eating it.*  I recommend that you eat gluten free – and preferably grain free – while you are taking Thyroid Script; however, a gluten-free diet is not absolutely necessary.

Q:  Does Thyroid Script contain any allergens?

A:  Thyroid Script does not contain milk, egg, fish, gluten, corn, peanuts, crustacean shellfish, soybeans, tree nuts, wheat, yeast, or rice.  In addition, Thyroid Script does not contain hidden fillers, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors, or sugar.

Q:  Does Thyroid Script contain any animal glandulars derived from cow or pork?

A:  No, there are no animal glandulars of any sort in any of my Script Essentials formulas.  I do not believe that glandulars are safe for everyone, especially if someone has multiple medical issues.  Furthermore, there is the risk of reacting adversely to foreign animal tissue or the risk of there being bacterial contamination of animal tissue.  Animal glands can have the residues of every pollutant the animal was exposed to.  As good as quality control evaluations are, laboratories simply cannot test for all the different possible contaminants, so for this reason, Thyroid Script does not contain animal glandulars.

Q:  What is DPPIV, the so-called “special ingredient” in Thyroid Script?

A:  Your body has its own natural digestive enzyme for gluten called “dipeptidyl peptidase-IV” or DPPIV.  Individuals who are deficient in this enzyme have trouble breaking down difficult-to-digest proteins.  Partial digestion of gluten can exasperate the gastrointestinal tract, inflame the small intestine, launch an immune response, and attack the thyroid gland.  The inclusion of DPPIV in Thyroid Script is intended to help your body metabolize gluten,* but it is not 100 percent effective, so some of the gluten you consume is still going to get absorbed.  So while the DPPIV enzyme will assist your digestion of gluten,* I do recommend that you eat gluten free, and preferably grain free, while taking Thyroid Script, although a gluten-free, grain-free diet is not absolutely necessary.

Q:  Because Thyroid Script supports energy-producing pathways in the body, does it contain stimulants like ephedra, guarana, or caffeine?

A:  No, Thyroid Script does not contain any of those stimulants, nor does it contain yohimbine, bitter orange, kola nut, or khat.  There are no stimulants in Thyroid Script.  I am not opposed to these natural stimulants, I simply don’t see the need for them in this formula because Thyroid Script is designed to help your body produce, activate, and integrate thyroid hormone,* so there is no need for a stimulant.

Q:  Why are there only small amounts of tyrosine and iodine in Thyroid Script compared to other supplements on the market?

A:  As an expert in thyroid health, I know that most individuals are fully capable of making thyroid hormone from these two compounds when you get them in your diet.  The problem for many individuals, however, is activating thyroid hormone to its biologically active form, and then getting it into the cells and the mitochondria.*  The nutrients in Thyroid Script not only assist you in producing some thyroid hormone, they also assist you in using the thyroid hormone you have.*

Q:  Is Thyroid Script vegan?

A:  Yes, Thyroid Script is vegan.

Q:  Are there any genetically modified (GMO) ingredients in Thyroid Script?

A:  No.  None of Suzy Cohen’s Script Essentials products contain genetically modified ingredients.

Q:  Is Thyroid Script kosher?

A:  No, Thyroid Script has not been certified kosher.

Q:  How much iodine is in Thyroid Script and why is it in there?  Is it safe for a person with Hashimoto’s?

A:  Most individuals are a bit low in iodine due to dietary or medication interference so the addition of a small amount of iodine is included in the Thyroid Script formula.  Iodine is used to build T4 hormone (thyroxine), which is naturally secreted from the thyroid gland.*  Iodine is also needed to convert the inactive T4 hormone to T3 hormone (the biologically active thyroid hormone).*  There are only 500 micrograms of iodine in Thyroid Script.  While it might appear that this amount is high – because the Daily Value amount indicated on the label is 333 percent – it is really not that much iodine.  You should realize that stand-alone iodine supplements typically contain as much as 11 milligrams of iodine in them!  That’s a lot, and individuals take those iodine supplements one to four times daily depending on their iodine requirements.  So with Thyroid Script having only 500 micrograms, that’s only four percent of the amount of iodine you might get from a standard over-the-counter iodine supplement, so yes, that amount is safe.  In addition, individuals with Hashimoto’s can often benefit from a small amount of iodine, but the answer to this type of question is for your health-care practitioner.

Q:  How do I determine if the iodine in Thyroid Script is too much for me?

A:  There are only 500 micrograms of iodine in Thyroid Script.  Compare that to 11 milligrams of iodine in most iodine supplements.  There are 1,000 micrograms in one milligram, by the way.  So the amount of iodine in Thyroid Script is only four percent the amount of iodine in most other stand-alone iodine supplements.  To help you compare, here’s the amount of iodine you get from food:  (1) the dried seaweed in a sushi roll has 4,500 mcg iodine; (2) one cup of yogurt contains about 80 mcg iodine; (3) three ounces of cod contains about 100 mcg; (4) ¼ teaspoon of iodized salt contains about 70 mcg.  Symptoms of excess iodine consumption include diarrhea, stomach upset, palpitations, acne, and thirst.

Q:  Is it okay to take Thyroid Script if I am also taking Script Essentials’ Selenium product?

A:  No.  You should not take both products – take one or the other, but not both.  There is plenty of selenium in Thyroid Script so there is no need to also be taking Selenium.

Q:  Is it okay to take Thyroid Script if I am also taking Script Essentials’ Iodine Complex?

A:  There is very little iodine in Thyroid Script, so if you have been tested and told by your health-care practitioner that you need more iodine, then it would be okay to take both supplements.  They can even be taken at the same time, such as with a meal.

Q:  Will taking Thyroid Script help get my thyroid back to a healthy place where it can function properly function, or do I have to continue taking Thyroid Script to maintain a healthy thyroid?

A:  Taking Thyroid Script now does not mean you will have to keep taking it forever.  Thyroid Script contains an adrenal adaptogen that helps support your adrenal glands.*  Once your adrenal glands are appropriately nourished, then over a period of time, perhaps within a few months, your thyroid gland will begin to respond better.*  Healthy thyroid gland function is dependent on healthy adrenal function, and once that issue is addressed, then you might not need to keep taking Thyroid Script.*  But taking Thyroid Script won’t shut down production of your own thyroid hormone, you will still be making thyroid hormone like normal, while you are taking Thyroid Script.*

Sleep Script FAQs

Q:  Can I take Sleep Script regularly or is it only for temporary use?

A:  Sleep Script can be taken on a long-term basis, particularly if you believe it is increasing the quality and the quantity of your sleep.

Q:  Is Sleep Script like some OTC sleep aids where you can’t stop taking it all at once so you have to taper off?

A:  There are no addictive ingredients in Sleep Script, so if you did decide to stop taking it, then it would be perfectly okay to do so without having to taper off.

Q:  Can I take Sleep Script with a prescription or OTC sleep aid?

A:  This is a question that you should talk about with your health-care practitioner.  We believe, however, that taking Sleep Script will enhance the effect of a prescription or OTC sleep aid you might be taking.

Q:  Is it alright to drink alcohol with Sleep Script?

A:  No, you should not drink any alcoholic beverage at the same time you take Sleep Script.  This is because the combination of Sleep Script and alcohol could increase the depressant action of alcohol on your central nervous system and perhaps dangerously slow your breathing.

Q:  Can I take Sleep Script during the day to help me rest or relax?

A:  Yes, you may.  Sleep Script will have a very calming effect because of the combination of botanical ingredients that are in it.  But because it can cause drowsiness, you should not drive a car or operate machinery until you are certain how taking Sleep Script will impact your alertness.

Q:  How much Sleep Script do you recommend taking?

A:  The suggested use for Sleep Script is to take two 2 capsules approximately 30 to 60 minutes before going to bed.  However, you can certainly start by taking just one capsule and then see how it makes you feel.  You could also take one capsule before bedtime and a second capsule if you wake up in the middle of the night.

Q:  Can I take Sleep Script if I’m pregnant or nursing?

A:  This is a question that you should talk about with your health-care practitioner or your OB/GYN.

Immune Script FAQs

Q:  Are there clinical trials on Immune Script?

A:  I have not had any clinical trials performed on this finished formula, which is a blend of immune-supportive botanicals, nutrients and amino acids.* However, the EpiCor® dried yeast fermeuntate is one of the primary ingredients in my formula and that has been clinically studied and has been found to have beneficial effects on immune function and GI microflora.* The clinically studied daily dose of EpiCor® is 500mg (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). EpiCor® has undergone 8 human clinical trials published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. It has been shown to increase sIgA levels, balance and strengthen the immune response by reducing IgE (compared to placebo), reduce allergy symptoms and support upper respiratory health.* The clinical studies show these very impressive results on many aspects of immune function.* Feel free to visit their website where you can learn more about EpiCor®

Q:  Does the Immune Script have animal-based ingredients?

A:  No, it does not. It is all plant-based herbs, combined with an amino acid called N-acetylcysteine. It also contains a dried yeast fermentate, but this is not yeast. There is no yeast in the formula.

Q:  How should I store this product?

A:This formula should be stored at room temperature.

Q:  What is the product’s suggested use?

A:  Take 1 or 2 capsules each day. You may split up the dose (morning and night), or you may take both capsules at night since the formula contains ingredients that are relaxing and may cause drowsiness. Further, you may take just one capsule each day to help maintain immune function. There is no right or wrong, it is really up to you.

Q:  If I decide to take two scoops per day, is that okay?

A:  Yes, it’s okay to take three or four capsules during times of extreme stress, however, an efficacious amount of the botanicals in this formula are found in two capsules per day, and that is the amount that most people take to achieve the desired results.

Finding clean and unadulterated Skullcap Root is hard to do (many other sources were found to contain “germander”) and so I sourced from the one of the world’s leading makers.

Vision Script FAQs

Q:  When is the best time to take Vision Script?

A:  Take 2 capsules daily without regard to meals. As for “when” that is a very individual consideration. But as of May 2020, there have been studies to confirm that saffron herb may support several aspects of sleep hygeine, including its abiliity to induce restorative sleep. For that reason, you may benefit from taking it around dinner time. We do not see this ‘relaxing’ effect with everyone, so you may certainly take it in the daytime around breakfast or lunch and simply experiment to see when you -as an individual- best responds to Vision Script.

Q:  Can I split up the dosage on Vision Script or take more than recommended on the label?

A:  Yes, you can certainly take 1 capsule twice daily. Most people take both at once with a meal, lunch or dinner, but you may take them WITHOUT regard to meals. The recommended dose is 2 capsules taken once daily, as this is easy to remember and provides the full dose of ingredients. If (after a month), you would like to increase your dosage to 3 per day, or reduce it to 1 cap per day, that is fine. This product is safe and we understand that each individual is unique so experiment away!

Q:
Can I take Vision Script if I’m taking eye drops?

A:  Yes you may.

Q:
Is there any “animal-derived” ingredients in Vision Script?

A:  No.

Q:  What if I miss a dose of Vision Script?

A:  Take it as soon as you remember.

Q:
Will it affect my estrogen levels?

A:  Estrogen is beneficial to women who are post-menopausal and many foods and spices can very slightly raise levels of it. Saffron is one of them, and other popular estrogen-boosting spices and foods are turmeric, hummus, flax seeds, licorice root, tofu, thyme, oregano and many others.

When a woman has adequate levels of estrogen, bone density is protected, as is the cardiovascular symptoms. Even small amounts of estrogen-containing foods, supplements or meds help women with vasomotor ‘hot flash’ symptoms, so estrogen is considered a youthful hormone.
It is broken down in the body by the liver, into various different metabolites. Some metabolites are protective to the body (2-OH for example), and others are 4-OH and 16-OH. The way you break down your own estrogen (whether you make it in your body, eat it from spices or take it as a drug) depends on your own individual make up.

The amount of estrogen increased by the small amount of 20mg of saffron (inside 2 Vision Script capsules) is insignificant, however if you have a serious estrogen-related illness of some sort, please do consult with your physician before taking it.
On a side note, the DUTCH Complete urine test will tell you exactly what your propensities are for breaking it down, and how much your levels are, as well as your B vitamin status. Deficiencies of B vitamins or glutathione can improve the way we break down estrogen, as can some Brassica vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and watercress.
